What “certified” means for your home
Spray foam is made on site, so the quality of the job is decided on installation day. Here's what stands behind a certified ComfortSeal install.
Certified by the maker
Installers register and train in the ComfortSeal portal. Certification covers application techniques, safety, building science and code compliance for both ComfortSeal foams.
Required by the evaluation reports
Both IAPMO evaluation reports require ComfortSeal to be installed by contractors certified by USAFoam, LLC, the company that makes it (ER-974 Section 2.2, ER-975 Section 2.5).
Sprayed to the report's limits
The reports set how the foam goes in: passes of up to 6 inches for ComfortSeal 500 and up to 3 inches for ComfortSeal HFO, with the installation instructions and report kept on the jobsite.
A condition of your warranty
Installs by certified ComfortSeal installers carry a limited lifetime warranty on the foam, for the life of the home. Certified installation is a condition of that coverage.
Workmanship backed by your installer
The installing contractor is responsible for the installation workmanship. Ask your installer, in writing, how they stand behind their work.

Before you request an installer
Does it cost anything to request an installer?+
No. Sending a request costs nothing and doesn't commit you to anything. Your installer assesses the house and gives you a written quote, and whether you go ahead is up to you.
How quickly will I hear back?+
Our team reads every request and tells you what to expect when we reply. After that, the timing of the assessment and the install depends on your installer's schedule.
Does ComfortSeal install the foam itself?+
No. ComfortSeal makes the foam. Independent contractors certified by USAFoam, LLC install it, and each one quotes and schedules their own work.
Why does ComfortSeal have to be installed by a certified contractor?+
Both IAPMO evaluation reports require it: ComfortSeal must be installed by contractors certified by USAFoam, LLC (ER-974 Section 2.2 and ER-975 Section 2.5). Certified installation is also a condition of the limited lifetime warranty on the foam.
How much will my project cost?+
It depends on the foam type, the thickness, the area, access, prep and coatings, and local labor rates. ComfortSeal doesn't publish installed prices. Our spray foam cost guide explains each factor and how to compare written quotes.

Installs by certified ComfortSeal installers carry a limited lifetime warranty on the foam, for the life of the home. Installation workmanship is the installing contractor's responsibility; certified installation is a condition of coverage. How do I check an installer's certificate?+
Ask the installer for their ComfortSeal certificate number (it looks like CS-2026-00001) and enter it on the verify page. The check shows who the certificate belongs to and whether it is active, expired or revoked. Certificates are valid for two years.
