ComfortSeal is a spray polyurethane foam insulation brand made by USAFoam, LLC, a manufacturer at 1744 South Lane, Mandeville, Louisiana. It offers two products: ComfortSeal 500, an open-cell foam (IAPMO ER-974), and ComfortSeal HFO, a closed-cell foam (IAPMO ER-975). Both are installed only by ComfortSeal-certified contractors and carry a limited lifetime warranty on the foam.

ComfortSeal exists because homeowners don't buy R-values — they buy warm bedrooms, quiet evenings and a house that holds its temperature. We give the pros who deliver those things a brand that speaks their customers' language.

Our story

Made by foam people, for foam people

ComfortSeal is a brand of USAFoam, LLC, based in Mandeville, Louisiana, with 20+ years of manufacturing expertise behind every drum. We've spent those years supplying professional installers — listening to what slows a crew down, what wins a bid, and what a homeowner actually asks about.

What we kept hearing: the chemistry was never the problem. The story was. Spray foam does two jobs in the wall, insulating and air sealing, but spec sheets don't sell comfort — so we built a brand that does, and put our IAPMO-evaluated products behind it.

The result is deliberately simple: two products that cover every residential job, a certification program, real technical support, and a limited lifetime warranty on the foam, for the life of the home.

Why two products

Two foams, chosen on purpose

Most assemblies ask one question of spray foam: should this layer stay vapor-open, or does it need to be dense and moisture-resistant? Open cell and closed cell answer that question in opposite ways, so our lineup follows the same line — one of each, and nothing in between.

Simplicity is on purpose: two products, one clean spec, no catalog sprawl. A short lineup is easier to do well. Crews learn two sets of processing parameters instead of a shelf of them. Builders write one spec and repeat it plan after plan. Inspectors see the same two evaluation reports on every job. And when a homeowner asks which foam is going where, the answer fits in a sentence.

ComfortSeal 500 — open cell

Water-blown 0.5 lb/ft³ foam: R-13 at 3.5 inches, R-20 at 5.5 inches. Vapor-open, with an NRC of 0.75 for sound control. Built for interior walls, attic rooflines and retrofit. IAPMO evaluation report ER-974. ComfortSeal 500 details

ComfortSeal HFO — closed cell

2.0 lb/ft³ foam giving R-25 at 3.5 inches, blown with an HFO agent with a global warming potential of 1, and a Class II vapor retarder at 2 inches. Built for exterior walls, crawl spaces, unvented attics and rim joists. IAPMO evaluation report ER-975. ComfortSeal HFO details

How the installer network works

A certified installer network of our own

Spray foam is made on site: two liquids become insulation at the tip of the gun, so the installation is the product. That's why ComfortSeal runs its own certified installer network. Whichever side of it you're on, start here.

Contractors get certified

Certification covers application techniques, safety, building science and code compliance. Contractors register and train in our online installer portal. Certified installers get direct technical support on processing and application. About certification

Our documentation standard

If it isn't in a test or evaluation report, we don't say it

Every performance figure we publish traces to a test, through the product's technical data sheet or its IAPMO evaluation report, and names its test method: ASTM C518 for R-value, ASTM E84 for surface burning, ASTM E96 for vapor permeance. Both products are evaluated by IAPMO Uniform Evaluation Service, under ER-974 for ComfortSeal 500 and ER-975 for ComfortSeal HFO. Where a data sheet and an evaluation report differ, we follow the evaluation report.

That standard cuts both ways. Where a result hasn't been published, we don't imply one: we publish air leakage data for ComfortSeal 500, for example, but not for ComfortSeal HFO. And where an evaluation report lists R-values by thickness, we quote the installed value at that thickness rather than multiplying a per-inch figure, because the R-value per inch of these foams falls as they get thicker.

For pros, that means paperwork an inspector or energy rater can check line by line. For homeowners, it means every number in a proposal traces back to a test. Our guide on how to read a data sheet explains each line.

We're headquartered on the Gulf Coast, where heat, humidity and hurricane season punish every wall assembly. ComfortSeal HFO is tested for those conditions: a Class II vapor retarder at 2 inches (ASTM E96), no fungal growth (ASTM G21) and 210 psf wind uplift (UL 1897).
